About Ruth Ann
Recently retired after 45 years at University of Maryland Shore Regional Health (formerly The Memorial Hospital at Easton, Maryland), Ruth Ann held various leadership and management positions throughout her career. At the time of retirement, she served as the Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer, overseeing Nursing, Rehab Services, Pharmacy, Emergency Services, Home Care, and Professional Practice.
Ruth Ann graduated in 1974 from the MacQueen Gibbs Willis School of Nursing with a diploma in nursing, earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Wesley College in Dover, Delaware in 1988, a Master of Science in Nursing at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. in 1990 with a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Women’s and Children’s Health, and in 2007, a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D) in Leadership and Innovation from Wilmington University.
She has a deep desire to mentor and coach the next generation of healthcare workers. In 2017, she was named the Pride of the Peake honoree by Chesapeake College, which also established an endowed scholarship in her name.
When not working on ITCH, Ruth Ann spends time as a member of the Board of Mid-Shore Community Foundation, Vice-President of The Talbot Paramedic Foundation, Board member of The Talbot County Public Education Foundation, The Scholarship Committee for The Memorial Hospital Foundation, and Board member of the Foundation of Hope. She also serves as a volunteer for The Maryland Nurse Honor Guard that performs memorials and living tributes to those who dedicated their lives to the nursing profession.
