About Cynthia
Cynthia Watson RN MSN DNP joined the ITCH team to pay it forward to young people interested in a healthcare career. She is in her fifth decade of working in the healthcare field. After enjoying the challenging and gratifying position of bedside nurse, specializing in ICU and pediatrics, she was able to teach nursing for fifteen years. Watson is aware of the importance of education and lends her experience to ITCH by collaborating on programming. “Education must be a dynamic and ongoing process” states Dr. Watson. She strives to guide young people towards exploration of the many opportunities in the healthcare field. “We need workers on every level.”
After entering nursing with an associates degree from a local college in New Jersey, Watson earned her bachelor's degree from University of Maryland at Baltimore, her master’s degree from Wesley College in Dover, a Post Master’s Certificate in Nursing Education from Wilmington University as well as her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the same institution. She can attest to the expanded opportunities that education brings.
When not working with ITCH, Watson can be found working as a community health nurse for the Talbot County Health Department, cooking for the Talbot Interfaith Shelter, volunteering with Talbot Hospice, or participating in the Maryland Nurses Honor Guard. She lives in Talbot County with her husband and near her four children and five grandchildren.
